stay the hand
Upon the killing stone - my
little beating heart
sits cold, encased in strands of
glass and bone.
I want to crush the brittle
shards to dust.
I want to scatter bits of
shell and self.
I heft the rock on high, with
trembling coward's hands,
but cannot find the strength, nor
fear, nor guilt.
